Custom Acoustic Wall Panel Implementation for Corporate Conference Rooms

Laser-Cut PET Felt Hanging Screen Acoustic Room Divider for Open-Plan Office

Project Overview

  • Location: Baltimore, USA (Harbor East Business District)

  • Client: Apex Global Vanguard Investment Group

  • Product Used: HENGJIU Felt Custom Geometric-Cut PET Acoustic Wall Panels & 3D Embossed Panels

  • Quantity: 450 Square Meters (Covering 8 Executive Boardrooms & 5 Video Conferencing Hubs)

  • Thickness & Size: 9mm and 12mm dual-layer combination for enhanced low-frequency absorption

  • Color Scheme: Navy Blue, Corporate Grey, and Off-White Accents

The Challenge: Sound Leakage and Echo During High-Stakes Board Meetings

Apex Global Vanguard required a complete acoustic overhaul for their executive floor. The core issues centered around their high-end conference rooms, which featured extensive glass elements and hard-surface presentation walls:

  1. Speech Privacy Failures: Confidential financial discussions inside the boardrooms were easily audible in the adjacent corridors, creating a compliance and privacy risk.

  2. Flutter Echoes: During hybrid Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings, the remote participants experienced a harsh “flutter echo” caused by parallel reflective walls, making communication exhausting.

  3. Aesthetic Rigidity: The client rejected standard, boring acoustic foam. They demanded a seamless, corporate-identity-driven design that could double as a feature wall backdrop for global video broadcasts.

The Solution: Architectural-Grade Custom PET Wall Systems

HENGJIU Felt engineered a dual-performance wall cladding system using CNC geometric-cut PET felt panels to achieve a balance of premium interior design and maximum sound dampening.

  • Dual-Layer Frequency Absorption: We utilized a 12mm base panel topped with CNC-cut 9mm geometric overlays. This created intentional air cavities between the layers, significantly boosting the NRC to 0.90, particularly trapping mid-to-low human vocal frequencies (250Hz – 500Hz).

  • Seamless Aesthetic Integration: Instead of standard squares, the panels were precision-cut into a custom herringbone pattern with V-groove accents, matching the sleek corporate aesthetic of the investment firm.

  • Health & Safety Priority: Operating in an enclosed office space, the material’s EO Class formaldehyde-free rating and ASTM E84 Class A fire certification were critical to meeting Baltimore’s stringent commercial indoor air quality and safety codes.

The Implementation

The project required a zero-VOC installation method to ensure the rooms could be occupied immediately without chemical odors. Our engineering team specified a heavy-duty, eco-friendly water-based adhesive combined with mechanical clip systems for the 3D embossed panel sections.

The entire 450-square-meter wall area across 13 distinct rooms was completed over two consecutive weekends, resulting in absolute zero downtime for the client’s weekday trading operations.

The Result: Crystal-Clear Audio and Complete Privacy

Acoustic testing conducted post-installation highlighted a massive improvement in acoustic isolation and sound quality:
